Granola vs Loom

Pricing

Granola: Free tier (30 days of history), Business $14 per user/mo

Loom: Free tier, paid from $18/user/mo

Description

Granola: AI meeting notepad that captures your computer's audio without a bot joining the call and turns your rough notes into full ones

Loom: Quick video messages instead of meetings

Pros

  • No bot joins the call: it records the audio on your own device
  • Apps for desktop, iOS, Android and Apple Watch
  • Audio is deleted after transcription, and you can opt out of model training
  • Record screen + face video and share a link in under 60 seconds
  • Free tier gives you 25 videos up to 5 minutes each
  • Replaces meetings that should have been an email (or a video)

Cons

  • The free plan only shows the last 30 days of meeting history
  • Integrations with Notion, HubSpot, Attio and Zapier, and API access, need the $14 Business plan
  • Owned by Atlassian since 2023. Some features are being gated to paid plans
  • Videos longer than 5 minutes or more than 25 videos require Business ($18/user/month)

Details

Granola is a notepad for meetings. You jot rough notes during the call while Granola transcribes the audio from your computer, and afterwards it enhances your notes with what was said. Because it records device audio, nobody else in the meeting sees a bot.

It suits founders with back-to-back calls who want usable notes without an assistant in the room. You can chat with your notes across meetings, share folders and connect your notes to Claude or ChatGPT through MCP.

The free Basic plan has the core features but keeps only 30 days of history. Business, at $14 per user a month, adds unlimited history, follow-up emails, pre-meeting briefs and the integrations.

Loom lets you record quick screen + face videos instead of scheduling meetings. Insanely useful for async teams. Started bootstrapped on maxed credit cards, grew to 10M+ users, sold to Atlassian for $975M in 2023. The free tier is still generous enough for most solo use. Business costs $18 per user per month and removes the video and length limits, and Business + AI costs $24 with AI editing; paying annually saves up to 17%.
