About each tool
Netlify
All-in-one platform for web projects with serverless functions, forms, and identity
Netlify pioneered the git-push deployment workflow and still does it well. Connect your repo, push code, get a live site. The built-in extras β form submissions, identity/auth, serverless functions β mean you can build a surprisingly complete app without bolting on extra services.
The free tier is solid for getting started, but watch the bandwidth and build minutes. A content-heavy site with images can blow through 100GB in a busy month. If you are building a static site or Jamstack app and want everything in one place, Netlify is a reliable choice. If unlimited bandwidth matters more, check Cloudflare Pages.
Render
Cloud hosting that is simpler than AWS but more capable than static hosts
Render sits in the sweet spot between βI need more than static hostingβ and βI do not want to learn AWS.β Deploy web services, databases, background workers, and cron jobs with a clean interface and predictable pricing. No surprise bills, no complex dashboards.
The free tier is fine for static sites but limited for web services β they spin down after inactivity, meaning the first request after idle time is slow. For paid services starting at $7/month, you get always-on hosting that handles real production traffic. If you have outgrown Herokuβs free tier (which no longer exists) and want something similar but modern, Render is the natural landing spot.
